Welcome to my website. It’s about cars. Lots and lots of cars. Here’s why.
Many years ago, I decided to purchase an old vehicle specifically for a road trip along iconic Route 66. A few years later, a Lincoln Highway adventure inspired me to acquire another example of American iron. In both cases, the rides were Plymouths, the brand my dad had always chosen as our family car. Suddenly, without really thinking about it, I was a collector.
Over time, a loose plan evolved—I would build a fleet comprised of one Plymouth from each decade Chrysler Corporation offered that marque: from the late 1920’s through the early 2000’s. My focus was not on muscle cars or exotics. I sought vehicles that had been daily drivers, ideally where I could trace the history and learn about the car, the assembly plant that launched it, the dealership that sold it, and the people who owned it. As you can see, the plan soon took on a life of its own: I doubled or tripled up on many (okay, most) decades, and expanded beyond the Plymouth brand to Ford, General Motors, and Packard offerings, and to a few non-American brands as well. I found new homes for some to acquire others. And I traveled extensively across the country to explore and discover more about the vehicles and their stories.
Click on the photo of a car below to read a bit of its history. The photos are listed in two groups: cars I currently own and ones I owned previously. Where a link reveals only basic details, I hope to augment that information over time. This site is definitely a work in progress, so please check back from time to time—I expect more cars, and more adventures, await me down the road.
My thanks to Randall H. Duckett and Maryellen Kennedy Duckett for all their efforts bringing this site to life. Thanks as well to Kevin Lozaw for photographs of some of the cars. And special thanks to my Dad, who instilled in me a love of Plymouths and the pleasures of a two-lane road. Among my fondest childhood recollections are Sundays after church, when Dad would amble out to the back yard where I was completing some monotonous chore, look around aimlessly, and remark, “Nice day for a drive.” Then we would pile into his Plymouth and cruise the country roads and city streets of our New England town. Peering through the windshield of any one of my “classics” today evokes those memories, and brings a smile.
